Season 10 Call the Midwife

A new season of one of my favorite shows is now on Netflix. Call the Midwife Season 10 is now on and I have watched the first 2 episodes. I watch during my morning time on the treadmill.

As usual the stories in each episode can make me smile, cry and think. What I really like is that this show does not shy away from exposing the issues of the time the stories take place. We are up to the middle 60's now and it is a time I am vaguely aware of since I was born in 1955.

These ladies and the nuns as well are heroes to me. I think, with 2 nurses in my family, that is is a calling to serve that brings a person to a nursing career.

Today's nurses are heroes to me as well. As an American I am so proud of how the nurses in this country held up under unbelievable pressures during the height of the pandemic.

Infusing Water, So Easy

It's spring and that's a good thing. Days are getting warmer but not yet too warm and that's a good thing. I stay away from sugar and carbonated drinks and that's a good thing. I avoid caffeine too and that's a good thing.

However sometimes I want a treat to drink instead of my typical decaf coffee or tea or a plain glass of water. I have found that infused water can feel like a treat to me. It is such a simple idea that can have some tasty and refreshing results. Slices or chunks but not too big of fruits or veggies that you like will work. Think about blends that you see on the fancy bottled drinks in stores and make your own version.

For my first warm weather batch when I decided I need something new to drink, I put sliced tangerine, cucumber and ginger in a pitcher and then filled it with some filtered water and stuck it in the fridge. In a few hours I will have a refreshing cool drink to have with my dinner and beyond. You can refill the pitcher a couple times before the fruits and veggies you put in quit providing more flavor in my experience.

The picture above is not one of the prettiest pictures I've ever taken but you can see all the slices in the pitcher with the water just floating there working on giving me a lovely treat for later.

You know if you ever do infused water let me know what you like to put in yours. I am always looking for new ideas to try and comments on a blog make a blogger soooooo happy.

Life Plans or After Life Plans

Getting ducks in a row sucks. Planning and thinking and sensitive conversations over a couple weeks and meeting with a lawyer a few times. Actually meeting with a lawyer was a pleasant part of this process. Ours was a nice young man. In the end we now have this giant notebook with all the needed documents and information in it. The conversations at home to nail down our wishes were exhausting though.

When it is time for the kids to deal with our eventual deaths, I think we have done a good job of smoothing the way for them.

Check that off the list.

Hope the plans are not necessary for at least 20 years or even more. In the meantime we may be able to start going on cruises again soon. Now to figure out where to go.

Sharing Two Things from My Etsy Favorites on 2/22/22

It has been a while since I shared from my Made Me Say Wow favorites list on Etsy. Since I think sharing creates good karma, I figured today should be the day. I really shouldn't have waited this long.

I have got something old and something new for you. See if either one of them make you say wow too.

First up is the old item. This is a digital download of a crochet pattern from the 1950's. The pineapple motif in crochet patterns is timeless and used often in doilies, afghans and, like today, in a pincushion. If you treasure vintage patterns like I do and want this for yourself clicking on the picture takes you to this item in the Patterns ala Carte shop on Etsy.

The second thing to share on this Twosday is more modern and I would describe it as fun. I'm a simple woman and sometimes colorful, curvy things just make me smile. This light fixture does that. Just take a look at the fun colors. Wouldn't this just cheer up any room you put it in?  Find this light fixture and more from the yahudalight shop on Etsy. Also, as before, to go directly to this listing for more information just click the picture.

Hope you enjoyed what I shared today. If you wish, in the comments, feel free to leave a link to an Etsy listing that made you say "Wow". Can't wait to see what you come up with!

Yoga and Me (a beginner)

Yes, I am a beginner to yoga, but I have found that I like it and would like to get more skillful, flexible, strong and generally fit. You see, for several years now I worked most days to get 10000 as recommended and that was great but....

Walking was great and I plan to continue a walking habit and I realized I need to do more for strength, balance and my bone health. We have a Prime membership and one of the benefits I take advantage of is Prime Video. After several trials of different instructors, I found Julia Marie. As a 66-year-old beginner I felt she explained the whys, hows, and any needed adaptations very well. I am doing the program pictured above but not every day so I will be at it a bit longer than 30 days but I am okay with that. Up to Day 8 so far and as recommended by Julia I am keeping a journal of how each yoga session went, my wobbles and weaknesses and when I felt strong and balanced. I am not really doing this for weight loss although I would like to be lighter. At this time as I joke, I am in training for old age because as we all know it ain't for sissies.

This link here > Julia Marie Yoga – Wellness Plus will give you a list of her other classes. You might find something good for you like I did. No affiliate links here, just wanting to share something I think is good.

What's on Sale in February in My Etsy Shop

I began a series of monthly sales in my Etsy shop a while back. During each sale of the month one section or category of goods will be on sale for 25% off. During the month of February 2022 and I am putting the year here in case you come across this post in later years, so you won't get your hopes up for a good deal and be disappointed.

So, what do I have a good deal on right now? It is a month of market bag discounts! I have had this pattern for a very long time and enjoy making them and thinking about their usefulness and single use plastic bag need decreasing abilities (I think that is the super power of these bags!) while I am stitching. That makes me smile and want to keep crocheting them over and over again.

This pattern has a LOT of stretch in it so they can carry so much you will be amazed. The sturdy handles can definitely hold up to the weight. If something leaks or the bag gets dirty at the beach these are 100% cotton and can be washed and dried when necessary. I have grand plans to add bags in more colors but for this month I have four different colors on sale. Check them out below and if you are interested in more information the pictures are clickable links.

As always, thanks for stopping by. Feel free to say hello or leave a comment.

What I Brought Home from Old Town Scottsdale

Seeing this on our patio wall makes me smile!

Isn't it cute? About a week ago we spent an afternoon wandering Old Town Scottsdale shopping and having lunch. Outside one of the many shops with pottery, glass wares and metal art in this part of town I spied this on the wall. Our first car was a Volkswagen Bug, and we owned a few more after that first one which was the car I learned to drive a stick shift in. So after some back and forth with Jim discussing how we both liked it and should we get it, we did. Now we have a new VW Bug.
