The Sisters Arrived

By midday both of my sisters were here. All the chatter began and Jim interrupted it to ask if we were ever going to eat dinner. Since I had chicken in the crockpot, all I needed to do to finish up was cook a pot of rice and put together a salad. Tada! Dinner!

After dinner more conversation and a game of 5 Crowns. If you are a card game type of family and you don't have this game, you should change that right away. Just Wandering

Just wandering around our home town with out of town guests. We took a drive to Canyon Lake and had lunch at Lakeside Cantina. All the shopping has been done. Who knows what tomorrow will bring?

Wednesday

The middle of the week feels so strange when it starts your week at home. We spent Sunday through Tuesday in Utah and now we are back home on a Wednesday that feels like a Monday. Jim went off to work this morning and I got caught up on laundry and other things that pile up even when you are away a little while. There is still no magic housekeeping fairy here to do things while I am gone. 

We did have a good time with those that we were able to see. Don't tell Hilton Hotels but we had three stowaways in our room on Sunday night. They think it is a special thing to come to the hotel and spend the night with the grandparents.

Nice Time

I think the kids had a nice time on a hot Sunday. The water in the river was a very comfortable temperature. All of us waded for awhile. This was at the Salt river where a lot of people go tubing. As we watched the tubers float by we were a bit jealous and decided this is definitely something we want to do. We will have to wait until next year. This was the last weekend of the season.

From here we checked out the Rawhide Wild West Town. Jordan got a lesson in roping a steer. We took a train ride and had a great dinner.

They are on the way home now. The house is quiet.

Last Week

Last week I had the pleasure of spending some time with two of my grandkids. They got to visit here while my daughter spent some time with my mom during her recovery from a broken ankle. By the way the cast came off yesterday and she seems to be doing well so far. That is good news.

Being down here in the heat one of the best ways to entertain them was with a pool in the back yard. They used it in the mornings and again in the late afternoon. Midday when the sun is high and sunburns and heat are a problem we retreated inside for lunch, naps, movies or wii games. Nothing real exciting but just spending time together. I know I enjoyed it and I think they did too.
Of course the child with the hose always has the most fun. You can tell by Joslyn's face when Hunter had a turn and sprayed her! Does he look a bit like a guilty big brother or what?

Bubbles Before Breakfast

She didn't want breakfast yet. Don't bother with the bed head until later. Just get her outside to blow bubbles.

More Travels

I am sharing with you more of the visit with my daughter in August. We took a drive to the Mogollon Rim to show it to them one day. That is where Jim took the picture of the "dog rock" I showed you in a previous post. The edge of the Rim is right behind us and Grandpa who is very afraid of heights made sure we had the kids right beside us. Not that Mom and Grandma weren't careful but he was just understandably worried. There are no guardrails or protections of any kind here.

We had a late breakfast at the Beeline Cafe on the way through Payson. Highway 87 is known as the Beeline Highway and the cafe is right on that road as it goes through town. It is a fun place with the meals that I have had there well prepared.

We made a quick stop at Saguaro Lake. The day was hot even by the lake so we took a few pictures and then headed home. I amazes me still to think of the beautiful lakes we have around here in the middle of the desert. I keep thinking we should get a boat but Jim says his work hours are too long and we wouldn't have time to enjoy it. I suppose he is right.
