Update on October 7,2016:
With all the competing teams and the habit of some Etsy sellers for dropping promotional links and running the team didn't take off like I had hoped. The captain has decided to not put more effort into trying to get the team active again.
To quote a random stupid animal picture somewhere on the internet-
I haz sad.

**********************************
Attention all bloggers with Etsy shops!  I would love to see this group grow and enjoy the fun and friendships that would come with that.
*****************
Got a blog? Love Etsy? Then come join the EtsyBloggers! The EtsyBloggers are the official and original Etsy team for those who love to blog about their craft, the creative process, and other Etsians. In other words, EtsyBloggers ROCK!! :D

In order to join the EtsyBloggers, there is a 5-step membership process. This ensures teammate participation, team promotion, and also results in finding some awesome bloggy peeps!

1. Write a blog post about any EtsyBloggers Member, Leader, or Captain. You can blog about the shop or one listing.
2. Send a convo to the Team Captain (joeyandaleethea.etsy.com) with a link to your blog post.
3. Now go ahead and apply to the EtsyBloggers team - we would be happy to have you join us!
4. Click Apply on our team page (www.etsy.com/teams/6362/etsybloggers) and you will be granted membership asap.
5. After a new member joins the EtsyBloggers team, here’s what happens next:
1. The Team Captain creates a “Welcome New Teammate!” thread.
2. In that thread is a link to your shop.
3. Also in that thread is a link to the blog post that you wrote about your teammate.
4. All teammates will then show you some love! Every member will favorite your shop and also one of your listings!
5. All teammates will go comment on the blog post where you featured an EtsyBlogger.
6. All teammates will post a link on their own blogs pointing to that blog post your wrote about a teammate before joining.
7. All teammates will also feature your shop (or one of your listings) in that same blog post.
8. All teammates will then come back to your Welcome thread to post a link to your feature on their blog.
9. You would then blog about all of your teammates who blogged about you.
10. You could write one blog post featuring many teammates, or you could write many blog posts, one for each teammate.
11. You would then create 2 lists:
1. A list of the blog addresses (URLs) of the EtsyBloggers who featured you. Post that EtsyBloggers blog list in the sidebar of your blog (widget). Then you will always know how to go visit your new teammates at their blogs.
2. A list of the blog posts which feature you.
12. Then you can go and post on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Etsy Forums, or wherever else you’d like, and paste that list of features to show others where your shop has been featured, and also help share the EtsyBloggers team love!
13. All of the above is done during the first month of your membership.
14. Every month thereafter, all teammates will choose 1 teammate’s shop or listing to blog about (this is separate from welcoming a new teammate).
15. Then all teammates will go to our team page on Etsy (www.etsy.com/teams/6362/etsybloggers) and post a link to that bloggy feature in the “Monthly Features” thread.
16. Whoever featured you on their blog that month will also get a feature written by you, on your own blog.

It all may sound complicated as written above, but really it’s all quite simple. It boils down to this: You blog about the EtsyBloggers, and the EtsyBloggers blog about you!

As of September 13 2016, there are only 4 members of the EtsyBloggers team since we are once again growing our team organically from the ground up and so we are now implementing the above *NEW RULES* for our team, to encourage participation and to create a close-knit community of bloggers.

Here are the current members of EtsyBloggers team:
1. cozy.etsy.com who blogs at cozyatoz.blogspot.com
2. seasandvintage.etsy.com who blogs at seasandvintage.blogspot.com
3. backyardpatch.etsy.com who blogs at backyardpatch.blogspot.com
4. joeyandaleethea.etsy.com who blogs at joeyandaleethea.com/blog

We would love new members, and would love to add more wonderful bloggers to our lists!

Got a blog? Love Etsy? Then come join the EtsyBloggers! www.etsy.com/teams/6362/etsybloggers

Todays Thoughts, Photos, Shop and End of Summer

What's On My Mind Today?
I must confess not a whole lot. I have been thinking about what summer was since we are now a week or so past Labor Day Weekend. The summer started in California going to Sea World and seeing family. This summer ended with a day on Jackson Lake in Grand Teton National Park. In between there were other family times here in Jackson and a cruise to Alaska. All of it good and I will share scenes in future posts.

I have come up with what I hope will be a new format that I can stick to. The headings tell it all. First "What's On My Mind Today?" which can be about nearly anything. Next is shop news and I hope to have new listings to share here soon. Last I decided to go through my pictures and choose a photo that catches my eye and share it. Any way we will see how this goes.

Shop News

I choose a few items from my shop today to promote on twitter. These dishcloths we something I tweeted. I just love the cheerfulness of the colors in these. Just looking at the colors made me happy as I crocheted these.

I am also looking forward to seeing if we can get a nice group growing on the EtsyBloggers team. Got an Etsy shop? Got a blog? Join us!

Photo of the Day
Somewhere in Arizona

I will admit that after nearly 5 years in the Phoenix area I never really grew to love the harsh desert landscape. What helped was that in the central part of the state not far from Payson you could see views like this.

Til next time.

Etsy Bloggers Revitalized

I am excited these days! Long ago I was a member of a very early Etsy team known as the EtsyBloggers and then, silly me, I left the team thinking that Artfire would be the next great thing, but we all know it wasn't. So back to Etsy I went but EtsyBloggers had changed and the team captain was busy with a growing family and I found another group to be a part of. You see I like to be in one group at a time. It makes my life less complicated.

With the big announcement of acceptable manufacturing on Etsy like many I tried out Zibbet. Actually I bought a lifetime membership there for a very good price and have a neglected shop still there. I poured my heart into that shop. I grew a twitter account from a few hundred into thousands spreading the word about that Zibbet shop. I was part of a group of sellers all supporting each other on Zibbet. I came to realize after a bit more than a year it was just ridiculous to continue. So once again back to Etsy.

I was also a part of Group2020. This was made up of a fantastic group of sellers. Some of them I will probably stay in touch with for a long time. As usual with life that group has fallen apart. I get it, life happens. I felt a bit at a loss without a group to share and enjoy and then......

......the team leader of my old EtsyBloggers group found me on instagram! She is at a place in her life where she wants to take charge of the group and bring it back to life. This is such a good thing for me. It will help me think about blogging more. It will give me a group to share with and enjoy.

If you are a seller on Etsy and have a blog and are willing to do some things for team support you could join too. Where? Start with applying to the team on Etsy by clicking right here.

See Me If You Must

I try not to get in pictures if I can help it. Every once in awhile some one will get me to stand still for one. In this first picture I put myself in the shot without knowing it until later. If you click on the picture to see it larger you will see me sitting on the curb to take pictures of Hunter's first bike ride.

I think my granddaughter took this picture. She was young and probably didn't really know what she was doing. This is the same child who asked, "Grandma when did you start highlighting your hair?" I had to explain that I didn't do it but rather nature and age had.

One of my favorite vacations was a road trip from Salt Lake City to Calgary in 2003. We drove through Glacier National Park in Montana. Jim took this picture of me during one of many stops for pictures. Since we were both smoking then I will fess up to the cigarette I am holding while I try to convince him the view is better for a picture than I am. I was about 30 pounds thinner then too.

The last picture you are getting of me was taken last year in the saloon on the main street in Prescott, AZ. This is right across the street from the lovely court house. I love that town.

Behind the faces is a woman who likes travel, new restaurants, dogs, books, family, documentary type television, oldies, country and celtic music and keeping my hands busy.

So there you have it folks. This post is part of an EtsyBlogger blog carnival. The topic choices were to show yourself or your studio. My "studio" is in great danger of becoming a piled to the ceiling storage room so you get me. The blog carnival will be hosted on the Memories for Life Blog this coming Monday.

EtsyBlogger Birthdays

I am a member of the EtsyBloggers Street Team and have been for nearly 2 years. The group got started around August of 2007. The purpose of the group is to create buzz about Etsy and our team members. To be on the team there are a really just three basic requirements. We have a chosen member each month that all EtsyBloggers are asked to write a post about. We have blog carnivals every other week with 2 topic choices each time. You need to write a post for a blog carnival at least once a month. The last requirement is to put the links to those posts in the roll call thread for the month on the team message board.

One of the other perks of membership is that each Monday an EtsyBlogger is featured on the team blog. There is a sign up thread for that on the message board. I share doing the Mini Monday feature with Lily of Tulips Treasure Box. It is called Mini Monday beacause we use the Etsy Mini widget to show off the shop. To be featured when your name comes up on the list the member needs to be current on the membership requirements I told you about in the first paragraph.

One other thing on the team blog is birthday greetings done by me each week on Friday for those active members who had birthdays in the previous week. This week I posted about two great members and wanted to share them with you here. The first is the shop owner of Spotted Cow Soaps and the second is Shell Mitchell. Both of them are outstanding artisans and if you come to the blog here you will see why. If you are getting this in a reader please come on over because the Etsy Mini widget does not show up on your feed. I really want you to see their products.

See I told you they had great stuff!

LazyT Crochet

If you are part of the EtsyBloggers Team you know that each month a new member is chosen to be blogged about by all members. It is a member perk and a wonderful way to give a fellow Etsy seller a boost.

This month we are sharing with you the shop and blog of LazyT Crochet. I have to say that being a knitter and crocheter myself I would say that I could make many of the things in her shop myself. I want you to know however that thinking this way does not stop me from admiring the design, colors and materials chosen for the beautiful and useful creations you will find in the Etsy home of LazyT Crochet.

A splendid example of what I mean is the hat below. The color is beautiful and the pattern stitch and textures of the different fibers create something that would make anyone happy to wear through the winter and be sad to pack away at the end of the season.

Maybe warmer colors are more your style? Look at the piece below. It is a lovely coral color done long, wide and fringed. This versatile shape can be used as a scarf or worn as a shawl or wrap when you need to keep your shoulders cozy and not just your neck.

The LazyT Crochet blog is filled with articles on the work of this very talented fiber artist as well as fun posts on food, friends, Etsy and other topics that cross her mind. When I last peeked she had 100 followers of her blog. Are you one of them?

My Month, My Flower

Do you think it is a coincidence that my birthday is in June and my favorite flower is the rose? I like simple daisies too but nothing to me is prettier than a rose, any type, any color.

A few years ago my birthday, roses and a trip to Portland all pleasantly came together when Jim and I got to visit Portland, Oregon during the rose festival. I always fall in love with cities with rivers and Portland certainly fits that. Two other trips and places I really enjoyed were Missoula, Montana and Nashville, Tennessee.

Enough of this let me show you some of the roses from the gardens of Portland. The photographer here was my husband. Although we did many things during our visit the rainy afternoon at the rose gardens was one of my favorite parts of the trip.

Beautiful, aren't they?

Create A Thought

Life is too short to have boring things in your life,
welcome to my shop full of color and things for you to enjoy,
and make your life bright!

I love writing.
I love the swirl and swing of words
as they tangle with human emotions.

Above is part of the shop announcement greeting at Create A Thought on Etsy. I was so impressed by the phrase "words as they tangle with human emotions". What a concept. So well said. I think this is why people blog that is to tangle or maybe sometimes untangle emotions with words.
On to the shop. Look and of course click below to see these things and more.

Life gets better.......

Life does get better for Cinderella and that is why it is one of my favorite fairy tales. I am not silly enough to wish for a prince and a castle but when you are married to a great guy it feels like the fairy tale anyway no matter where you live.

From Wikipedia I learned-
Cinderella (French: Cendrillon, German: Aschenputtel, Spanish: Cenicienta, Italian: Cenerentola, Portuguese:Cinderela), is a well-known classic folk tale embodying a myth-element of unjust oppression/triumphant reward. Thousands of variants are known throughout the world.[1] The title character[2] is a young woman living in unfortunate circumstances which suddenly change to remarkable fortune. The word "cinderella" has, by analogy, come to mean one whose attributes are unrecognised, or one who unexpectedly achieves recognition or success after a period of obscurity and neglect. The still-popular story of Cinderella continues to influence popular culture internationally, lending plot elements, allusions, and tropes to a wide variety of media.
In another way many of us who sell our heartfelt, handcrafted creations are hoping for a Cinderella moment. That would be when your work is recognized and appreciated in a big way. Our feelings are fragile and we patiently work and wait for the day when it all happens and our work is suddenly known and sought after.

I hope it comes my way soon because it is getting hard to work in these glass slippers, :}

Nora

The EtsyBlogger of the month is the person behind Designs by Nora. Click any item above to be whisked away to this delightful shop. Being an EtsyBlogger of course there is a blog for you to enjoy and follow as well. Frequently on her blog she showcases other artisans in a feature called What's New Wednesday. Take a look. You may find something new and wonderful.

Donna Says

On her blog Donna says
I make stuff. All kinds of stuff, but always something fun. I take pictures, I sew soft toys, I make buttons...you never know just what I'm gonna come up with next....

This month the EtsyBlogger team is featuring the work and blog of Donna Pool. From hand stitched plush to digital photography this shop has an amazing range of things for you to enjoy.

My favorite photo?

For this girl with Kansas roots it is her windmill photos that remind me of Grandma's farm outside of Dodge City. Take a look at her shop and find your own favorite.

Do You Love Dogs?

Each week on the EtsyBloggers Street Team blog a different team member is featured. I have a lot of fun writing these posts and it is my small way of contributing to the group effort to showcase the work of other artisans. I think things like doing the blog posts creates good Karma and the good will come back to you.

This week the feature was a very fun shop, Nanjo Dogz. The artist specializes in polymer clay dogs. These are made as beads and for this time of year ornaments. Other figures are done as well but the focus is dogs. Let me show you.

Isn't that cute? What about this one?

Fun Etsybloggers Team Finds

I am a member of the EtsyBloggers Street Team. They are a very busy, very fun bunch of shop owners and bloggers. The membership is global and the fun never ends. You can't join right now but if you love Etsy and have a blog you can get in on the fun starting in February of next year.

You can get an idea of the range of products from these busy bloggers by searching etsybloggers team and then be prepared to be amazed.

I did just such a search this morning and came across this yummy soap from the shop "Spotted Cow Soaps". I have a feeling that if this soap sounds as good to you as it does to me you should act fast before it all sells out!

Take A Break

When I want to clear my mind or take a break between tasks there are a couple things I like to do. First of all I am a reader. It is very rare for me not to have 3 or 4 books from the library usually lined up to be read. Second I like to do puzzles. I enjoy many kinds of puzzles from jigsaw ones laid out on the dining room table to software like Zuma and Tetris. My favorite puzzles for some time now have been Sudoku. Sometimes I want to breeze through easy ones and at other times I really want to challenge my thinking skills with something more difficult.

I wanted to share with you where I get my puzzles. Some time ago I discovered the site krazydad.com. The puzzles are printable and donations are accepted. It is has lots of sudoku puzzles, mazes, a puzzle form called slitherlink and more.

This is quite an interesting site with puzzles, a blog, screensavers and a bio of the creator. There is even a fun little tool in his freebies section where you can make your own kaleidoscope.
Here is one I made from a scarf I have available in my shop on Etsy. Take the time to check out this site. I don't think you will be disappointed and you might even find more ways to relax.

More EtsyBlogger Lovliness!

Once again Flights Of Whimsy has put together a treasury of talented EtsyBloggers Team members. I want to show this to you to thank her and to share even more of the amazing things that can be found on Etsy. This time the focus as you can see is needlework. It is so nice to be included in such a fun and talented group of people. My pink scarf is in the bottom right corner.

I haven't put together any treasuries myself in awhile. They are a lot of fun to build and I had forgotten that. Maybe I will hang out there and see if I can snag one soon! If I manage that I will be sure and share it with you here.

What a Treasure

Introvert that I am most of the time I took a deep breath last year and joined an Etsy Street Team. I choose the EtsyBloggers because I had started a blog the year before and found myself enjoying it. This love of blogging and love of Etsy with a a global outlook when it came to geography or the art or craft represented lead me to this team. I am glad I made the choice and the shop and member I will show you today certainly is part of this pleasant street team experience.
This member sometimes affectionately know as Lil_ is always on the Etsy forums or the team message board with kind words of welcome and encouragement for everyone. She recently became a co writer of the EtsyBlogger Mini Monday features on our team blog and I look forward to many more of her articles about fellow bloggers.

Enough chatter. Just look at some of her very special creations and after you look here you can see more in her Etsy shop and keep up with her on her blog.

School Day Priorities

I remember getting my children ready for school each year. I think I enjoyed looking at and choosing supplies for the coming year more than they did. Pens, pencils, paper and notebooks were replaced yearly. Sometimes we got a couple years use out of a backpack or book bag before a new one was insisted upon.

Of course for most elementary aged kids the most important parts of the day are recesses. The chance to get out, stretch your legs, socialize and get ready for whatever comes next. The most important of those breaks was at lunch time when you had time to eat and play longer. I remember many times shopping for the perfect lunch boxes because in their younger years I packed lunches every school day morning.

As is usual for me for this topic I went window shopping on Etsy and found a great shop for lunch bags. Sandra Kay Creations has lunch bags for kids and adults. Each bag comes with 2 cloth napkins that coordinate with the bag. So whether it is off to elementary school, junior high, high school or college you could find the perfect bag for the lunch break that gets you through your day.
This post is part of the EtsyBloggers Team Carnival. It will be published on August 18th, 2008 and hosted by Lazy T Crochet.

Celebrating August 13th to August 17th!

The EtsyBlogger Street Team is finishing up their first year. This has been a year for me of meeting new people and lots of blogging fun. I have been able to be an author on our team blog which has allowed me to show off members in our Mini Monday features and send greetings on birthdays. Another regular event for the team is our blog carnival. These carnivals are postings by 20 to 30 or so members on a specific theme. You can find a link to our archived carnivals in the carnival widget in my sidebar on the left.

In common we all have shops on Etsy and blogs. Beyond those two things we come from all over the world and have an amazing array of skills and talent that shows in what we offer for sale. You can find jewelry designers, polymer clay artists, photographers, quilters, knitters, crocheters and those whose sew bags or clothing for all ages.

To celebrate our anniversary about 40 of our team members are having sales. Each of us has decided what special deals will be offered during the 5 sale days of August 13th to August 17th.

For a list of participating shops click the EtsyBloggers sale graphic in this post and be ready to shop!

In my shop "A Cozy Life" I am offering 20% off all purchases excluding shipping costs. I will refund the 20% to you through PayPal after your funds are confirmed in my account. I always ship by Priority Mail within 2 days of receiving your money.

For this sale I have put 4 new headbands in my shop. I have sold several of these and the feedback has been positive on all sales. I am usually told that they are even better in person than in my pictures. I guess that means I make a very nice headband or take lousy pictures or a combination of both. (I am always working on getting better pictures.)

For those of you that plan ahead and are thinking of fall and winter keep an eye on my shop starting tomorrow. I will be adding some knit scarves and possible some shawls. The 20% off for the sale will make these a good deal for yourself or early holiday shopping.

Starting Tomorrow!

The EtsyBloggers are one year old this month and to celebrate many of the team shops are having a sale. This sale is for 5 days and each shop has decided what kind of special deals they will offer. You have about 40 shops to browse and buy from participating in this event.
Remember it is 5 days only - from August 13th to the 17th so don't miss out!

This Monday

The EtsyBloggers are a busy bunch of bloggy goodness on Mondays. I wanted to share with you what is going on today. First of all there is the regularly posted Mini Monday feature on the team blog. This week we are showing off the talents of Simply Sentimental.

The other event today is the publishing of the biweekly blog carnival. This is a gathering of writing about one of two chosen topics and always makes for some great reading. The carnival published today is hosted by Spotted Cow Soaps. The topics are book reviews or grilling recipes. You will find lots of stuff to make your mouth water or your mind wander. Take a look!
