Fresh Off the Hook

My scarf is done. As I said in my last post, this is the Summer Sprigs Lace Scarf pattern you can find on Ravelry.com. This was crocheted with Lion Brand's discontinued Summer Nights yarn. I hope to sell these at craft shows this spring. 

If you live in the desert like I do sometimes you need just a little something to put on your neck and shoulders to keep the air conditioning from making you chilled. This can happen in restaurants of casinos if you end up under a vent. These scarves would be perfect for that purpose. 

I am considering buying or making small bags to put them in to carry them in your purse. It could keep them cleaner and keep the scarves from getting snagged on things like your keyring, or combs or brushes if you carry those too.

When I get those last ends woven in it will be ready to go. I am thinking of pricing at $35 to $40 with the bag. Thoughts?

Holidays and Worries

The time has been flying by this month. Spending Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Mohave Trading Post and then trying to stay creative and productive the rest of the week makes the time go quickly. Our sales have been okay. Karen's woodwork has been the biggest hit and her suncatchers are our number 1 item according to our Square sales reports. Number 2 are Kristi's bowl cozies and my potholders are number 3. My sales have been okay, not great but okay.

I am adding hanging kitchen towels to my group of products. I have resisted making them for years but several people have asked recently if I make them. I caved, found some nice looking towels at Ross and Walmart and a topper pattern that crochets up quickly. I found clear acrylic buttons on Amazon (affiliate link) so no matter what colors I use the buttons match.

In other news, I have been worried about my DH. He is having some health issues and because of the sales we are apart right now. He is at one house and I am at the other. We were supposed to be together for Christmas here but I am thinking plans may be changing. He went to the emergency room earlier this week and has a doctor's appointment this morning. I hope we know more after that.

The picture below is of the last full moon of the year. I took it at Katherine's Landing last weekend. I was there with my sister Karen and her husband to see the boats all lit up for Christmas. It is a poor picture of a beautiful sight.

Knitting, Feathers and Fans

My sisters and I have formed a group we are calling 3 Busy Sisters. We plan to do craft shows together and all 3 of us are starting to get things made to make this possible. So far I have tagged and ready to go dishcloths, hot pads, market shopping bags, headbands and some prequilted baby blanket panels that I put a crocheted trim on. 

Next up to prepare to be shown off and sold are some baby/toddler afghans. I have 6 done in red, teal, 2 yellow and one pink and yarn ready for 2 more in white and gray.

The most recent finish is the pink one in a very traditional pattern of feathers and fans. I am pleased with how they all turned out. Now I just have to spend some time taking care of the dreaded ends needing woven in.

Organizing is Good, Right?

I quit doing craft shows when I found Etsy. After going through all the growing pains and changes there I am doubtful I have a place in the market that Etsy has become. With that in mind and working with my sisters we are teaming up to do in person craft markets again.

I have missed talking to people in person who consider buying my creations. I haven't missed setting up and tearing down. All things have pros and cons. One thing I do know is that the easier it is to organize your set up and tear down the better the time in between can be enjoyed.

I bought some zippered bags on Amazon (affiliate link) and found some storage cubes to go in them at Dollar Tree. Two cubes will fit in each bag. Each cube can hold a category of items to be put on display and can go right back in the cube to go home. If I am lucky enough to sell out of something the storage bags and cubes can fold flat until when they are needed again.

Next, I am waiting for the hang tags I ordered to be printed and arrive. That should be soon. I already have a tagging gun that allows you to attach the hang tags to the items. Look at the 3 Busy Sisters getting all professional.

Never Ahead

I live a life where I am always catching up it seems and never ahead. My own fault and I have no valid excuses for it. I am a professional at grand plans and the easiest person for me to ignore is me. I can do whatever anyone else needs on time, every time.

So any way I planned on Tuesdays being a day to share something handmade in my house and I missed doing that yesterday. You are getting that post today combined with a random new thing in my life for my grand what is new Wednesday idea.

Today's handmade items are again something Jim has. He bought them in Grantsville, Utah at a craft show that was called Handcrafted Holiday. Like many craft shows now it was handcrafted after you ran past Pampered Chef and the Tupperware people. Shame how that has gone, you know? Any way Jim bought these from a wood turner at the show because he liked the woods and the shapes.

As for what's new? It is such a simple thing really. After a couple weeks it seems of everyday being cloudy and wet and snowy or rainy we had beautiful blue sky today. As I walked by windows doing this and that I could feel the warmth from the sunshine coming through even though we barely were above freezing for a high temperature today. The view from one of my kitchen windows will show you what it was like.

I really don't mind cold but I do crave blue sky and sunshine sometimes and today I had plenty. I am grateful.
