Knitting This Week

This afghan was started the first week of June last year. At the time I needed something to do with my hands while I kept watch over a hospitalized husband. I found the pattern on the Clementine Knits blog and a run to Joann's for needles and yarn and I had my hospital survival kit all complete.

After Jim came home and summer went on, the afghan got put away for other projects. Let's not discuss WIPs (works in progress) in this post okay? With the Olympics starting last week I once again needed an easy to follow pattern for all the tv watching time. I admit I watch NBC in the afternoon and again each evening. I have enjoyed so much of it, skiing, snowboards, speed and figure skating and more. I only have an antenna right now so I don't get the cable channels but what I can see is enough.

The afghan is coming along very well. I may even get it finished before the closing ceremonies. We'll see.

Olympics Watching

It, the 2018 Winter Games in South Korea started this week. I started watching last night. I have no idea how someone's knees withstand the pounding of mogul skiing. I also saw some figure skating and was very happy for how the US couple did with their routine. Tonight is the Opening Ceremony and I will be watching again. In fact I will be busy every night for the next couple of weeks during NBC's prime time show. Will you be watching too?

The End of Another Week

Yes we all made it to Friday. I hope your week went well. I have been doing a lot of planning and putting in place some changes about the way I go through my day. First of all giving myself a pat on the back for exercising every day this week. I also moved my computer upstairs from the basement. I was supposed to have my own crafting cave down there and I did. The basement is not finished and has one window so I found my crafting cave a bit depressing and hard to get myself down there to work. Now I am at a desk in our guest room that has nice big windows looking out to the mountains and pretty sunsets. The positive outcome of this has been that along with the exercise I have blogged every day this week. Did anyone notice but me? If not that's okay I know you all have lives too and I am not begging for attention although it can feel mighty good to get some.

In shop news, no new photos and hence no new listings this week. It has been snowing and cloudy every day. I have lots of lights here but there is just something about the way sunlight affects the outcome of pictures that is very important to me.


I have been working hard on marketing ideas and trying to make my interactions on social media outlets more efficient. I am getting closer every day. I have found ways to schedule tweets, facebook posts, google+ posts and even pins. Blogger has had a scheduling feature for a long time and Tumblr has a queue. The plan I am going to try to build into a habit is to have places that are the focus for the day. The media I focus on will get a weeks worth of scheduling done. After that I can do quick checks on the other sites to see if there is anything I need to respond to. Over time my hope would be to keep active on the sites that work best for me and let the others go.

I am really looking forward to watching the opening of the Olympics this evening.

Need This

I have come to realize that I need this place, this blog. This blog should be, and I hope to make it, a journal of sorts of the things I make. I would also like to show from time to time the handcrafted goodness I find around the internet that amazes and inspires me. From the number of posts here you would think I don't make much but I really have several projects going all the time.

Lately I have wanted to start making socks for myself. With good intentions and several balls of sock yarn, crochet hooks and a couple patterns I set out to do just that on our cruise to Alaska. I figured at sea time would be good for trying out making socks and I choose crochet because I can pretty much do it in my sleep.

I tried and as much as I love to crochet the result just did not feel as good as what I imagined a knitted sock would. So I frogged the work.

When the Olympics started I realized I had to have something for my hands to do with all the TV time watching all the events. So my crocheted sock has become an easy to knit slouchy hat or it will when I get it done,

Another Olympics Post

I know there are a million or more Olympics related blog posts going on in the world. I just figured I should add one of my own. I have mainly been watching swimming, gymnastics and beach volleyball. I am excited for and proud of all Olympians. I am glad there is an event such as this where once every four years I can see the best in the world.

I do have a question for all my readers out there. Don't you think that Aaron Piersol is just about the cutest thing to climb in or out of a pool? (He is on the left.)
