National Watercolor Month, July

On this last day of July, wondering what I would share here on the blog today, I went to one of my go to places for inspiration. I checked out NationalDayCalendar.com. While looking at things there I discovered that July is World Watercolor Month. This made me very happy because I love the look of watercolor art.

When in Hawaii we discovered the artist Sherri Reeve. She has a shop on Maui and it is always a very busy place. Besides the shop in Hawaii she has a web site you can shop, SReeve.com. We have 7 prints of her work and I love every one of them but I have a favorite. This one brightens my kitchen and makes me smile every day. It is called A Chorus Line.

So charming, right?

Friday Favorite Pine Tree Art on Etsy

I love watercolor art. I think watercolor art is soothing. You don't see bold angry colors like you can find in oil painting. I favorite a lot of artists on Etsy because just looking at what they are able to do makes me say wow.

Today I am sharing Pine Tree Art by Jim Lagasse. This shop has been on Etsy since 2009 and has sales numbering in the thousands and it is so easy to see why. Just take a look below.

Etsy Favorites

A long time ago I created a list on Etsy named "Made Me Say Wow". I filled it with art and such I stumbled across while browsing. Today I want to give a shout out to four of the artists and shops that are on that list.

This handsome fellow comes from the shop CarlaKurtArt. It is titled "Afternoon Reflection".

Five Fabulous Pieces of Art

I was going through my Etsy favorites this morning to find some things to share. I tweeted and pinned a few items from different shops but I wanted to share more from one shop in particular. I love the watercolor art from the shop Geninne. The one woman art show is based in Santa Fe NM and has been on Etsy for about 10 years. She has had thousands of sales and thousands of wonderful reviews. You only need a quick browse in the shop to see why. If you are in the mood for a new piece of art for your home the hard part will be choosing.

Art In My House

Today I am continuing to show you the handmade things I have around me everyday. The 2 pieces today are watercolors and hang in my bedroom.

The pictures to the right shows a forest scene that I bought for my husband one Father's Day. I loved the colors and beauty of the trees and he did too. Unfortunately I do not know the name of the artist and the piece is not signed. I bought it at a Quilted Bear store in Murray, Utah.

The painting on the left is one I have had since my high school days. We had a family friend named Claude Lepine who painted. Our families would get together sometimes and during one of those visits he told each of us we could chose one of his paintings to take home. This was my choice that day. I like the shades of spring greens mixed with the brown of the cattails. It looks to me as if a slight breeze is just barely bending the tops of the tall grasses.
