A Day at the Grand Canyon

Last month I took a girl's trip with my sisters to Williams Arizona. We spent the first day of our trip at the Grand Canyon. To get there we rode the train from Williams to the canyon and back the other way to get back to Williams. The train ride went through a lot of wide open high desert and took a couple hours. The staff on the train was entertaining. We had a guitar player/singer, a sheriff that interacted with the passengers and on the way home the train was "robbed". It was a lot of fun.

At the canyon we went first to the rim and took pictures of the views. Of course, a mere camera image pales in comparison to the view from your own eyes. I liked watching the clouds moving shadows on the canyon walls. Next, we checked out the buildings in the area, the Tovar Hotel, Bright Angel Lodge, the Hopi House and the Lookout Studio. By the time we did all that a got a few souvenirs it was time to get back on the train.

Have you ever visited the Canyon? Leave a comment about your experience there. Would love to hear from you!

Take care and stay cozy!

Strangest Thing Ever!

See that right up there in the picture? There is a story and a mystery attached to it. My sisters and I started today on a train ride from Williams AZ to the Grand Canyon. After spending about 3 hours wandering Grand Canyon Village, we headed back to board the train for the return trip. We got to the train a bit early and with my leg still hurting a lot I sat down on a log to wait until it was time to board. I started taking a couple pictures of a pretty yellow flower on a bush next to me. Looking down I saw this mini urn. I checked inside and discovered ashes still in it. I think someone brought it to scatter the ashes at the canyon and somehow lost it. We turned it over to train personnel to try and find who may have lost it.

So, if you are reading this, I really want to know if you have ever come across anything stranger while on vacation? Please leave a comment.

Verde Canyon Railroad

Since her husbands retirement one of my sisters is living in the Cottonwood area of Arizona. This is the closest we have lived to each other since we were kids. Our visits are frequent and filled with fun and laughter.

On one such visit during the spring of this year we spent an afternoon on the Verde Canyon Railroad. It was a great way to spend the afternoon. On the train you are greeted with drinks and snacks. The ride is filled with views of the river and the canyon. During the ride you can stay in enclosed cars with comfy seats or go outside to open air cars where someone will explain all about the area and the history of what you are looking at.

Would I do this again? Sure! I want to be able to go on some of the special themed rides. If you are interested and in the area, this link is (Link)for the train schedule calendar. Use it to find out when you can go on a Wine Tasting or Beer Tasting ride. Sometimes Eagles or other raptors are part of the trip. You can take a morning, afternoon or evening ride while celebrating holidays like Halloween, Christmas or New Years Eve.

If you find yourself in the Sedona area of Arizona consider this for one of the activities for you, your family or your travel companions during the time spent here.
