Vietnam Tour, January 16th, Ha Long Bay

This day was one of my favorite days on the tour even though it included a lot of time on the bus. It started with a lovely breakfast with Asian choice for me this morning. I just can't resist steamed buns!

On the bus our first stop was at an oyster/pearl farm and jewelry store. We got the process all explained to us and learned about the different types of pearls and how they are graded. I splurged here and treated my newly pierced ears to a pair of earrings.

After leaving the pearl farm behind it was on to the bay for our boat ride that included lunch. The bay is so beautiful and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Our guide told us that the bay's name has something to do with dragons. Those mythical animals are everywhere in Vietnamese culture! I am a clumsy photographer at best but maybe you can get a feel for how stunning this island filled bay is from some of my pictures below.

We made a stop during our cruise and explored a cave on one of the many islands. The cave is set up for visitors with a clearly define path to follow with some new "Oh Wow! view at every turn. It was soooo worth the stop!

What a wonderful day. We came back to the hotel had dinner and were in bed early, tired but happy about such a nice day.

In other news here at home my sleep patterns are still a bit messed up. I found myself wide awake at 1:00 am. That was after staying up a bit longer than normal for me and feeling really tired when I went to bed at about 10:30. I read for a couple hours and then dozed for a bit and was up at 4:30. Is this jet lag? How long does it typically last? Guess I'm going to find out by living through it.

Back with more again soon.
Take care and stay cozy!
