Over the Weekend

Among other things that I will tell you about tomorrow I finished two books this weekend. I have been reading a lot lately. I have so much stuff knitted and crocheted to photograph and get online that I haven't wanted to start new projects lately.

Both of these were fast reads. The Keepers of the House won a Pulitzer Prize. It traced the life of a house and family in the South through several generations. It was not a slow moving southern story but an intense one of family and conflict. My other read was an entertaining thriller by James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge. It was fun to get to the end of some chapters and think the story was done and the plot details all making sense and then another twist was put on the story. No spoilers here though. You just have to read these for yourself.

  1. I have not read these two authors. Who is your favorite author? I don't like to read hardbacks anymore. They're difficult for me to hold. I much prefer paperbacks. I am beginning to think these electronic devices may be a good way to read. Enjoy your posts from Jackson.

  2. My affair with books covers all kinds of styles and authors. I like spy thrillers, suspense and mystery, historical fiction and more.

Favorite authors? I enjoy so many. Lets start with James Michener for stories from all over the world, add Stephen King and Dean Koontz for intense and scary, throw in some western writers like Wallace Stegner and Pam Houston and add tales from other places like Pearl Buck and Meave Binchy. I also like to read biographies of almost anyone as well as some of the current nonfiction about politics and the economy written by folks like Thomas Friedman.

There are so many more. I don't know that I have an actual favorite.

I don't mind holding a book but I can understand your point. I am waiting for libraries to find a way to lend us book files that maybe expire before I think about an e reader. I think that day is coming. I rarely buy books except on sale or if I am desperate for something to read since I don't read a book twice very often.
