End of the Month

The last day of the month seemed like a good time to catch up on my reading list. If you look in the sidebar you will see that I have been keeping a list of those books I have read this year. I am like an omnivore when it comes to reading. Many types of books can entertain me and hold my interest. The latest three on the list are and example of this book obsession of mine. By the way just a small plug. I could never really afford to buy all the books I read. I use the local library for most of my reading and purchase classics and crafting reference books for myself. I think libraries are one of the very best things our society and government do. Any way added to the list today are Mary of Nazareth by Marek Halter, Battle Cry by Leon Uris and Going Back to Bisbee by Richard Shelton.

What a Month

This has bee a month of big ups and downs.

I have had my blog and shop featured on nearly 50 other blogs and it has been so much fun to read and thank everyone with Etsy Minis. I have more of them to do but I am waiting until this weekend when my month of fame ends.

I got to go to Utah to visit grandkids and see soccer games and preschool graduations and celebrate a birthday.

On the down side I had to go get some major dental work started that is expensive and not much fun. I needed to see a doctor to get prescriptions renewed. I remember when I used to think that getting old was when you had to take pills every day for something. Well I have been there for a few years now.

My faithful old minivan died at 186000 miles and we donated it to the Kidney Foundation. To replace it we got a Hyundai Santa Fe. It is not as big but that is okay. You still are up higher in it than a car which I like and the gas mileage is decent.

Jim has had a terrible cough and won't slow down. He finally went to a doctor and was told he has pneumonia. Of course he called to say this as he was off to another meeting rather than resting to get better.

What a month!

Over The Weekend

Jim and I were in Utah this weekend. We left Phoenix on Thursday afternoon and came home on Sunday evening. While we were there we got to see all our kids and grandkids. We went to be part of the celebration of a preschool graduation and a second birthday. We also got to see a couple of the grandkids play soccer games. This is Hunter's first year playing soccer and in his game on Saturday I watched while he scored three goals. He was so happy after the first one that he skipped down the field to rejoin his teammates. We also got to spend some time with the newest grandchild who has his first tooth. He is such a sweet baby and fun to be around. I will follow this all up with pictures when I get a chance to get them off the camera.

New Week

The start of a new week always has me planning and making mental lists of what I want to accomplish in the next several days. Sometimes I make it all happen and sometimes I don't. Either way as with most lives there is always something I could or should be doing and I like it that way.

To get started with what needs to be done today I am giving thanks to 10 EtsyBloggers who have posted about me and my little shop in the past few days. This doesn't feel like a chore but rather a celebration of team members who are taking part in this monthly feature.

So to keep Monday and the week moving along here they are-

Every Blooming Thing

I think of this afghan as Flowers for Emma. As soon as I send a picture and make sure it meets her approval it will be on its way. This young lady wanted a new blanket because she has worn out her baby one and wanted a new blanket fit for a person of 6 and one that she could enjoy for many years to come. I found out that she likes pink and flowers. I think I have given her both in this design.

This afghan is made up of flowers trimmed with v-stitch borders and final borders of v-stitch all around the edge. It is laid out in a pattern of 5 blocks by 7 blocks. That makes for 35 flowers in the blanket that all have pink in them but no two are exactly alike. I am pleased with the way this turned out and being able to get it from my mind into the finished product so well. I hope she likes it.

In other blooming news take a look at what came to my door today! I have heard of Edible Arrangements before and have been in one of their stores. This gift was sent for Mother's Day from my daughters and their families. I am saving it in the fridge to show my husband when he gets home tonight. Well not all of it, the grapes had to go to fit better. They were so sweet!

This post is part of the EtsyBloggers "Spring Bloom" blog carnival. The carnival will be published on May 12th. You can get links to it from the blog carnival widget on the left for this carnival as well as those in the archives if you are looking for some great reading.

These are the shops of EtsyBlogger Street Team members that have taken the time to post on their own blogs about me and my little shop and blog during my featured month. This series of Etsy minis is my small way of saying thank you to them.

More Thank You's Going Out

I was most graciously featured on these three blogs today - Serendipity Collections, Quilts With Heart and Stormy Designs.
The features are part of a group project for the EtsyBloggers Street Team. This is an amazing group of Etsy sellers and bloggers that work hard to raise awareness of Etsy, our shops and other shops belonging to team members. Thinking about being the featured blogger for the month of May still is making me walk around with a silly grin on my face. The things I did for the team like the birthday posts and the mini Mondays were all done just because it was fun but this participation is part of why I was recognized. Last month in April it was Stormy Designs who was featured. She is the person behind our blog carnivals and fantastic to work with. She keeps it all on time and organized. In the coming months I am looking forward to seeing who the future featured sellers are. I can think of several members who have been active from this teams beginnings last year. I will enjoy writing about them all I am sure.

Thanks to J. B. Guess

I was featured in a post by J. B. Guess on her blog. This mini connecting to her shop is my way of saying thank you.

I feel like.....

I feel like I should be giving a speech or something. Since posting is what we bloggers do that is what I am doing. I am a member of the etsybloggers. We are a group dedicated to promoting each other and etsy. We are quite a mixed group crossing all areas of art, craft, vintage and supplies that work together to promote us all. It reminds me of something like a rising tide raises all ships kind of thing.

Anyway the need for the speech/post is because I have been chosen to be the featured blogger for the month of May. I joined this team to take part in something that felt good to me because in a small way I could help others and have some fun along the way. It has been all of that and more. This is an amazing group of people and this will be an amazing month for me. I am looking forward to sharing it as we go along this month.
